Camping is where it’s at this weekend – it’s springtime and you will be in the best spot to enjoy the show – within 150m of Wave Rock, the main stage, toilets, showers, cooking facilities and food vendors. We’re committed to providing good facilities and a great vibe in the Camp Ground, so even people who are scared of camping will like it, and everyone will be able to sleep, wash and party in their desired proportions. You can bring your own gear or have a tent and mattress set up for you to make things really easy. Two to three person tents will fit on the camp sites, which are 3m x 3m in size. Bigger tents are not suitable. A camp site without a tent costs $40, a camp site with a two person Wave Rock tent and a double air mattress set up for you costs $100. These fees are charged to the person who sets up the camp site. Your camp site then appears as an accommodation option like this “Share Sharon’s Tent”. Your tent partner can pick this option at no cost when they book their ticket. You’ll be sent an email when someone has selected to share your tent, and if you don’t want to share with them you can call us.Even if we’re providing your tent, you’ll need to bring all other camping equipment and supplies with you. Our camping partner, Paddy Pallin, have provided a very helpful camping checklist which you can download here. Visit them at 884 Hay St, Perth for everything you’ll need. They’re such nice people that they’ll also give you a 10% discount when you show them your Wave Rock Weekender ticket. Their website is www.paddypallin.com.au . Here is a Site Map showing the layout of the Camp Ground.
The Wave Rock Weekender Camp Ground is located on Wave Rock Road, just out of Hyden. See the Route Map and Site Map to work stuff out. The Camp Ground will be set up in the camp zones marked on the Site Map, each with a potbelly stove and some responsible but fun camp monitors who’ll be living there and helping you set up. When you choose your accommodation option you can choose your camp zone so you can make sure you’re camping near your mates. Each zone will have a mixture of BYO Tent camp sites, and Wave Rock Tent camp sites. Two to three man tents will fit on the campsites, which are 3m x 3m in size. Bigger tents are not suitable.
You’ll need to bring money to pay for food at the show. An ATM is available at the roadhouse in town which is open from 7:00AM to 9:00PM, and EFTPOS is available at the Wave Rock Caravan Park Kiosk from 8.30AM until 9.00PM for a small administration fee. In keeping with our waste management goals for the event, all disposable containers for food and drink sold within the show site will be fully compostable, and should be disposed of accordingly in our special bins. You are also welcome to bring your own clean, reusable plates, cups and containers and get your food served in them to minimise waste.
You’ll have a few different food options:
There will be food vendors in the camp ground. We’ll make sure the food is good and there are vegetarian options. If you have any concerns about what will be on offer, feel free to email us at info@soulhighway.com.au.
The Camp Ground has 8 common BBQs you can use to cook for yourself. You can bring food with you, or shop at the Hyden Trading Co. supermarket which will be open from 8:00AM to 6:00PM Saturday.
If it’s absolutely necessary for you, you can bring a small gas stove for cooking on your camp site. Please be careful and considerate of other people.
Each camp zone will have a pot belly stove for warmth. Expert local pyrotechnicians will tend the fires for you. For safety reasons, no other fires will be allowed.
There will be safe, supervised fires in other areas of the site where we think you’ll need warmth. It does get pretty cold at night (an average minimum of 7 degrees in Sept/Oct) so bring warm clothes and blankets.

You can buy stuff in Hyden: check out the Facilities page for more information.
There are enough male and female toilets and showers for everyone, and there will be enough lighting for you to find them easily in the dark. Most are centrally located behind the main stage and on the edge of the Camp Ground, check the Site Map (coming soon) to find them. Please respect the environment and your fellow campers and keep your showers short.
Our waste management goal for the festival this year is to divert 80% or more waste from landfill, and to minimise the amount of waste we generate by staging the show. You guys play a big part in helping us reach that target, and here’s what you need to know:
Our bin stations have three types of bins, here’s where stuff goes:
Green Marked Bin Compostable – includes all bar and café drink cups and food containers, food waste, and wet paper and cardboard.
Orange Marked Bin Recyclable – includes clean paper, cardboard, plastic, our personal ashtrays (empty), glass, aluminium and steel cans.
Red Marked Bin Other – includes ceramics, dirt, chemicals, rubber, and cigarette butts.
Other things to note:
If you’re unsure about anything, please ask our staff or a camp monitor.
It’s crucial to the outcomes of the show that you think about the right bin to use before you throw stuff away. We know you’ll get it right!
For more information on our waste recovery initiative see the Environment page.
Licenses are pending, but the main stage bar will serve alcohol until about 1:00AM. Respectfully priced drinks will be sold. The show is strictly an 18+ event, and Australian photo Id will be required for entry. No alcohol can be brought into the Wave Rock Weekender or the Camp Ground. Bringing alcohol into the show contravenes our license, affects waste recovery, and puts the event in jeopardy. All alcohol will be confiscated. A bar menu will be posted here when it is finalised.
